Catherine and Simon got married in front of their close family and friends at the Kings Hotel in Christchurch a couple of weeks ago.

Once again, we were rained in, but inside the atmosphere was sunny and fun. I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for settees in wedding ceremonies. It makes things feel so snug and intimate.

A tongue-twisted Simon did actually make the vow to his “awful wedded wife” at one point (spot the grovelling mid-ceremony). However, all he had to do was flash his Transformers cuff links and all was forgiven.

A big shout out to Catherine who got through the day elegantly, despite having badly hurt her leg. And to Catherine’s mum who got the crowds warmed up with her rendition of “Wind The Bobbin Up”.

Wedding season is nearly here! We met up with Catherine and Simon this weekend to talk about their day and check out The Kings Hotel in Christchurch where they’ll be getting married.

The hotel fronts onto one of the main streets but the hotel has handy use of the bowling green and ruins over the road. So after talking through our timings we went on a little wander to see what’s around.

The Bowling Club building is so pretty and we’re hoping we can twist the arm of whoever’s in charge of the match playing on the day to let us have a play on it during the drinks reception.
